LEGO Fortnite How To Make The Basic Compass

A guide to the materials and process for crafting the Basic Compass in the new Gone Fishin’ update for LEGO Fortnite

LEGO Fortnite adds several new tools to aid in navigating its procedurally generated open-world in the Gone Fishin’ update. This guide has all the details on getting a hold of the Basic Compass that adds simple cardinal direction markers and numbers to the HUD, so you know which way you’re facing at all times, which is especially useful in the deep dark underground.

LEGO Fortnite How To Craft Glass

The first step to getting the recipe for the Basic Compass is getting some Glass.

Grab your Shovel and head on over to the Dry Valley or desert biome, though a sandy beachfront would also work as a source.

Dig up some Sand, at least 4 in total for a Basic Compass, and take it to a Metal Smelter.

The recipe for Glass requires 2 Sand for each Brightcore in order to craft a single pane of Glass, so you’ll need 2 of the latter as well.

Acquiring Glass in your inventory unlocks the Basic Compass recipe over at the level 1 Crafting Bench.

Aside from the 2 Glass, you’ll need a single Wolf Claw.

If you’ve forgotten how to get the latter, here’s a quick reminder: Grassland Wolves drop these as loot on being killed in the Grasslands biome.

LEGO Fortnite How To Use The Basic Compass

In order to make use of the Basic Compass, simply place it in the Equipment bar in your Inventory, and the compass bar should pop right up at the top of the screen with the cardinal directions and numbered coordinates. For even more information on the compass bar, upgrade to the Survival Compass.
