Russian Roulette: Tips, Tricks, and Cheat Codes

Okay, you made some rough choices somewhere down the road and now you’re here, forced to play a game of Russian Roulette for the amusement of your captors. But fear not! Because today we have some tips and tricks for victory that’ll blow your mind. But not literally, of course. That would go against the point of this article.

#1 — Learn to imitate the sound of a clicking gun

Anyone can learn to voice act and most who do are self-taught. Think of all the video games you’ve played in your life. Remember all the times you’ve gone to fire your gun, not realizing it was empty and been met with naught with an underwhelming click? That’s the sound you need to imitate when you raise the gun to your head and pull the trigger just enough so that it looks like the gun should fire, but not enough so that it actually does. Combine that with a convincing enough click sound, and those bastards should be none the wiser!

#2 — Aim the gun at your earhole so the bullet just comes out the other ear

Maybe, despite all the time you have to practice in your crudely-built little bamboo cage, you just can’t get that clicking sound right. Not to worry, we have you covered. Not literally, of course. I’m not taking a fucking bullet for you, but here’s what you should do: when it’s your turn, always be sure to line the barrel of the gun right up with your earhole so that — should the worst case scenario occur and a bullet does come out, it simply sails through your earhole and comes out the other.

Contrary to popular belief, the ear canal is actually a very primitive thing; practically a straight line! And so if you can line up the shot right, the bullet will just go through one side and come out the other, no mess. The onlookers may be upset that you survive on a technicality, but that’s their fault for not knowing the strats! The line-up isn’t easy, but this is one of the most surefire ways to survive. If they don’t like it, they can just kill you themselves or whatever.

#3 — Spin the gun so fast that it confuses your captors and gives you a chance to escape

A pretty daring one here, because if you mess this up, you might just further antagonize the baying crowd, but should you pull this off successfully, it’s also by far the most badass option. Your goal here is to build up some serious power in whichever wrist you plan on spinning the gun with, so maybe even do some wrist stretches in your cage beforehand.

Then, spin that baby with all the strength you can muster! You’ll know you’ve done this right if you see the eyes of all the enemy soldiers go all swirly like in Rocky and Bullwinkle or Looney Tunes and they start walking around on spaghetti legs. This is your chance to escape, and for some extra cool points, maybe take the gun and blast some of the bad guys on your way out!

Just remember, don’t look at the gun yourself once you’ve spun it — otherwise you’ll fall into your own trap and only delay the inevitable as both you and the enemy army spend moments recovering from the intense dizziness before just having to go back to playing the game.

#4 — Politely ask if someone else wants to play

Far from our most consistent trick, but also a pretty low-risk one, as the worst outcome you can reasonably expect is being told to get back in your chair and getting poked with a bayonet.

You might be surprised, but this kind of reverse psychology sometimes works! Often war criminals are people who come from harsh, sad backgrounds. Often they weren’t treated with much respect themselves growing up, so who knows? This sudden expression of manners and goodwill may very well open up their hearts to some kindness.

Maybe they’re so touched by this shocking nicety that they let you go, or even decide that watching has been so much fun, they do want to get in on the action themselves! It might sound far fetched but trust us — we’ve got your back. Again, not literally. You are on your own.

#5 — Shit yourself

We really didn’t want to have to suggest this, but if all else fails, this really is your last resort. If you can’t apply any of our other tips and are in dire straits — there’s every chance that defecating in your pants could produce a smell so foul that it clears the room entirely.

Even if that doesn’t happen, it makes it unlikely anyone wants to go near your cadaver should you lose the game of Russian Roulette. More likely, your captors — if you can understand them — will demand you go and wash yourself off, at which point you have another chance to escape, whether through a bathroom window or a sewage pipe. It’s not sanitary, but it is pretty potent, much like the smell you’re hoping to create.

And there it is! 5 tips and tricks to survive the average game of Russian Roulette. We wish you the best of luck out there and don’t forget to check out our guides like Strategies for When You’re Trapped in an Actual Gulag and So You’re Doing a James Bond Thing: How to Get to the Sex Part.

Elon Musk Unveils Neuralink Project to Implant 2013 Meme Directly Into Primate’s Brain

FREMONT, Calif. — Announcing a staggering leap forward in neurotechnology, Neuralink founder Elon Musk unveiled a new project attempting to implant a meme from 2013 directly into a primate’s brain.

“With every passing day, Neuralink is slowly becoming a reality, and by 2025 we will possess the capability to send a hilarious picture from 4chan directly into a chimp’s brain,” Musk said in a press conference. “This is unprecedented. Before, we would have to merely show rhesus monkey’s pictures of Doge Photoshopped onto a Twinkie or Rage Comics in tangible form, but analog memes are becoming a relic of the past.”

Neuralink CEO Jared Birchall said that the new project came at the behest of the company’s founder.

“Neuralink was remarkably close to creating a prototype with incredible applications like stimulating motor skills to cure certain disabilities in the brain or allowing hands-free technology usage, but Elon burst through the doors with a stack of printed-off 9GAG images and demanded we stop whatever we were doing,” Birchall said. “Now I spend my days combing through his personal collections of Troll Faces and XKCD comics trying to figure out which won’t instantaneously fry a patient’s cerebral cortex.”

Musk also went on to elaborate on the usefulness of the project’s limitless capabilities.

“Right now, people have to log onto Twitter to see all my amazing, original creations, but soon I will be able to beam them directly into everyone’s mind,” Musk said. “While the Twitter algorithm is already slanted to show you every single one of my passing thoughts, people are missing out on things like Pepe the Frog epicly trolling the woke left and my opinion on the Democrats over a picture of Dwight Schrute. Well, rest assured that millions in funding are being spent on making sure nobody misses one of my Reddit frontpage finds again.”

At press time, sources reported that Musk claimed the technology had unfortunately not advanced enough for him to also include credit to the meme creator in the neural transmission

Destiny 2: Lightfall Liming Harbor Region Chest Guide

Lightfall, the latest expansion to Destiny 2, has arrived and with it comes a new location to explore, the city of Neomuna on Neptune. As with other destinations, there are a series of chests scattered throughout Neomuna known as region chests. They can contain handy gear and glimmer that can help in the early hours of the expansion. Additionally, you’ll need to open three of them for the quest ‘From Zero…’, and all nine regional chests are required for the follow up quest, ‘…To Hero’, so be sure to seek them out as soon as you can. There are three regions in Neomuna with chests in them, so if you need help finding the chests in Liming Harbor, this guide can help.

Liming Harbor Regional Chests: Chest 1

The first chest we’ll direct you toward in Liming Harbor will be in the southwest corner. Head to the location in the image below to get started.

From here, you’ll notice some platforms above or around you. For this guide we’ll be focused on the ones above you.

You may not be able to jump up there on your own, so if you need some extra height I recommend using the Strand Grapple to slingshot your way up. Once you’ve made it up to the platform, you’ll see the chest ahead of you on the next platform.

Hop over and open it up, then head back to stable ground for the next chest.

Second Chest in Liming Harbor

The next chest is located inside the large building on the south side of Liming Harbor. Enter one of the large doors and head to the location on the map above.

From here you can see a platform placed above some large pipes, jump up to it and turn around.

This next platform is smaller, but definitely large enough to comfortably land, so jump to this next platform, and turn around again.

From here, the next pipe platform above you contains the chest, so jump up and open it.

On to the last chest!

Liming Harbor: Regional Chest 3

The last Liming Harbor region chest is also very simple to get to, once you know where to look.

There is a pair of large spinning fans, and your chest lies behind them. They’re not difficult to pass through, but you’ll have to time your jump carefully so you don’t get knocked back, so we’re going to take a different approach.

Walk through the fan blades and face the platform above you.

Back up as much as you can, and you’ll be able to jump up without much trouble to get the last chest in Liming Harbor.

That’s all the chests in Liming Harbor! If you need help finding the regional chests in Zephyr Concourse or region chests of Ahimsa Park, we’ve got you covered.

Destiny 2: Lightfall Ahimsa Park Region Chest Guide

Lightfall, the latest expansion to Destiny 2, has arrived and with it comes a new location to explore, the city of Neomuna on Neptune. As with other destinations, there are a series of chests scattered throughout Neomuna known as region chests. They can contain handy gear and glimmer that can help in the early hours of the expansion. Additionally, you’ll need to open three of them for the quest ‘From Zero…’, and all nine regional chests are required for the follow up quest, ‘…To Hero’, so be sure to seek them out as soon as you can. There are three regions in Neomuna with chests in them, so if you need help finding the chests in Ahimsa Park, this guide can help.

Ahimsa Park Regional Chests: Chest 1

The first Ahimsa Park chest we’ll direct you to is on the south edge of the area. If you’re entering Ahimsa Park from Liming Harbor, this will be on your left. Either way, head to the location on the map above.

From here, you should spot the side of a building with a pair of awnings.

The further of the two is holding the regional chest, but it’s a bit too far to jump, so use the Strand Grapple to help you across.

Once you successfully land, collect the chest and head back for the next chest.

Ahimsa Park Region Chests: Chest 2

Head to the north side of Ahimsa Park for the next chest. This one is a little tricker to find, but head to the location in the map above, including facing the same direction.

From here you can see a jagged cliffside, but the lower edges are safe to walk along, so jump down to one of the ledges and turn around.

There are caves ahead of you carved out of the cliffside. Follow along the wall on your left, and the chest will be in the first open space.

Head back up to the highest level to get the last chest in Ahimsa Park.

Ahimsa Park Regional Chests: Chest 3

This is another tricky chest to find, but with our guide you shouldn’t have any troubles. As always, head to the location marked on the map.

Head forward until the large stone pillar is on your right, then look left, where you’ll see a small hole with light coming out.

Head down and turn around, you’ll see a lantern. Jump down and the chest will be hidden away in the back, use the lantern for reference here.

Once you grab this chest, you’ve got all three in the region! If you’re having trouble finding the regional chests in Zephyr Concourse or need a Liming Harbor region chest guide, we can help.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Is The Perfect Match For the Seasoned Souls-like Veteran

Souls-like games all have a way of standing out from each other in terms of mechanics and overall feel. But they all have a common theme in providing the players with a fantastic experience through their carefully crafted worlds, not to mention the brutal and unforgiving combat. With Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, the setting of the Three Kingdoms provides a memorable experience for players who want to experience a pivotal era in human history. And, with its unique take on some combat mechanics, this epic by Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo is certainly a standout in the genre.

Set during the Yellow Turban Rebellion during the later Han Dynasty, the game puts you at the foot of a nameless soldier embedded with powerful abilities to defeat the enemies and demons that are ravaging the lands. The customization in the game is pretty amazing, with a bunch of options for face, body, shape, and organs like the eyes, ears, and nose. It also includes the option to choose your personal pronouns. With all these available, you can create the ultimate Chinese warrior. The exploration is quite interesting, and the game is much more open than other Soulslike games. But in the end, I was more invested in the combat than anything.

The combat mechanics are where Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty particularly shines as it is satisfying and overall rewarding if you give it some time. You do have access to a variety of weapons, but picking heavier weapons is bound to slow you down. That’s why I opted for a light approach, although stats wise they are less powerful. The armor also affects your movement speed as some may slow you down and others will make everything feel slippery. The equipment you use will just depend on the way you want to approach most encounters.

Combat as with Souls-like games is brutal and there is a steep learning curve with it. Waiting is a death sentence in boss fights as they will make mincemeat of you in a matter of seconds. Wo Long wants you to be aggressive in fights and make sure you don’t have to leave the enemy any breathing space. Parrying and deflecting are also heavily encouraged in the game as they can turn the tide of a boss fight or any encounter in your favor. This is particularly useful when enemies use Critical Blows, unblockable attacks that formulate with a red glow. The timing of your parry has to be precise or you have a high chance of ending up dead.

Parrying these Critical Blows will stun them for a short while, and it will allow you to land a Fatal Strike that greatly reduces their health. While it does take some time to get the timing right or even understand how the whole system works, the satisfaction you receive after parrying the Critical Blows is like no other. I was particularly put to the test by the first boss in the game. It took me around thirty tries to kill the first boss and when I did manage to do it, the relief was unreal. After that, it became much easier in tackling the late bosses, who all were different and interesting to take on.

During the attempts on the first boss, they got harder and harder due to the Morale system in the game which is another standout feature. This Morale acts as your strength in combat and resets every time you die. Though you can increase it permanently via Battle Flags in the areas, which act as checkpoints. Defeating enemies, parrying attacks, and Critical Blows will increase your Morale Rank while getting hit and dying will decrease it. And, not only that if your Morale Rank is lower than an enemy, say a boss, then they will become much harder to defeat, thereby adding an extra layer of unforgiveness.

Throughout the game, you will meet various real-life historical figures like Zhao Yun and Guan Lu, who will act as companions and aid you in combat. They are pretty helpful particularly when overwhelmed by a boss or a buffed-up soldier or demon. The game also has co-op and raiding though I was unable to try them out. The story is intriguing at the start but I did not find it quite that engaging compared to others in the genre like Bloodborne or Team Ninja’s own, Nioh.

Overall, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is an impressive offering from Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo, particularly with how uniquely the combat and gameplay mechanics works. For the veterans of the Souls-like genre, this will surely be a worthwhile experience and definitely a perfect match. For those who are inexperienced, however, this will definitely be challenging if they are not patient and understanding of the overall mechanics.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is a game I would recommend if you:

  • Want a unique and satisfying take on the Souls-like combat formula
  • Want to experience a pivotal era of human history
  • Want to fight a variety of bosses and enemy types
  • Want to dive into the Souls-like genre for the first time

I would not recommend this game if you:

  • Want a forgiving experience

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Microsoft Windows. It is also available via Xbox & PC Game Pass.

A review copy of the game for the PlayStation 5 was provided by Koei Tecmo.

Stacklands is Solitaire and Minecraft Banding Together To Distract You From Work

For years, the attention span of office workers was assaulted by the existence of Solitaire. The card game was included on many PCs to help people understand how new operating systems on computers worked, and instead led to a new way to ignore important tasks. Over time, Minecraft also became a popular timesink among workers, students, and anyone missing a creative outlet.

Now a new threat to free time has emerged, and you should definitely try it out, no matter what else you should be doing. Stacklands is a game about stacking cards on top of each other, and turning logs and rocks into usable building materials. It’s also incredibly cheap, has an adorable art style, and is made by one of the best indie developers around.

Sokpop Collective is a group of four from The Netherlands who have been making games since 2017. Their mission is to release 100 games, and they are almost at that goal, having created more than 80 games since their inception. For about five bucks per game (or other pricing options, including everything in their catalog for $200) they have many impressive games worthy of attention.

Stacklands is one of a handful of card-based games Sokpop has created, and ranks among the best the group has put out. After a simple options screen you’re greeted with a pack of cards. Cracking the pack reveals a few items and a villager. Any resource management game fan will recognize what comes next: dragging and dropping the Villager onto other cards (like Wood) brings up a progress bar, and when it’s completed you’re rewarded with an item (like Stick).

From there, you sell your resources at the top of the screen to get coins. Those coins can be used to buy progressively progressive packs that give advanced crafting items and recipes. You go on to recruit more villagers (and breed them), visit faraway lands (and find treasure), raise livestock (and murder them), and fight off giant rats and slimes just by making piles of cards. Eventually you’ll have plenty of habitat and food options in your records that you can review at any time, even if all your villagers die and the game ends.

Yes, on top of everything else it offers, there’s a roguelike element to Stacklands. If you have no more villagers, you’re kicked back to the title screen. Luckily, you still have a menu containing every item you’ve created and how to create it. That way you’ll remember how to make a stone quarry so you can begin quickly constructing silver armor for your villagers to defend against goblins.

There are a lot of ways to waste time. Stacklands is one of the best because it deftly combines two of the most popular ways to waste time into a neat little package. It also looks and sounds great, with an art and music style that evokes a calm Sunday afternoon in a garden. So if you’re staring at an inbox full of important messages, ignore them and visit the wonderful Stacklands.

I would recommend playing Stacklands if:

  • You like to waste free time by playing chill wind-down games. All of the aesthetics are calming, and you have near full control over how fast time passes. Though there is combat, you can turn it off when you start a new cycle. That way your only worry is figuring out how to get enough berries to keep everyone alive.
  • You like card games. Inscryption is the king of putting thought and care into simple cards, but Stacklands is a close second. There’s also little touches that show this was made by card game aficionados. For instance, each upgrade is presented as a card in a card pack, so cracking them open is rather satisfying. Plus you can randomly open foils for more value!
  • You want to play something new but have a tight budget. For $4.99 on Steam I picked this up, and have had more fun with it than a recently purchased $60 title. This is also a gateway game to all of Sokpop’s inventive and cheap titles.

I would not recommend Stacklands if:

  • You are not a roguelike fan. If you’re not paying attention things can go sideways, and on a moon cycle where you’re trying to get more stone, you can forget to feed your Villagers. From there your bad luck can cascade, and if you have combat turned on monsters can quickly end the runs of the unprepared.
  • You do not want to make your own instruction manual. There are quests you can complete to help you progress, but there is no hand-holding in this game. It might take some time to grasp, but if you can make the time, Stacklands can be very satisfying.

You can purchase Stacklands through Steam or Sokpop’s itch.io page

Destiny 2 Commendations Guide: How to Earn & View

The Destiny 2 Lightfall Expansion is here and with it comes a lot of new content, but aside from the new campaign and new Strand subclasses, there have been many changes to the UI, like with the addition of a commendation system. This is a way to thank other players after completing different activities, similar to the post-match screen of the Overwatch franchise. So, here are all the commendations added to Destiny 2, and how to earn them!

What Are Commendations in Destiny 2?

Commendations in Destiny 2 are a new post-activity feature allowing players to thank, or commend, teammates in various categories based on their experience playing with them. It is important to note that this does not apply to friends. As mentioned the commendation system is broken down into multiple categories and each category is broken down further into each specific commendation. Finally, these different subsets can be given in any activity, while others are only awarded in certain activities like Raids and Dungeons. Here is every possible Commendation in Destiny 2 for the launch of Lightfall:

NOTE: While this system has been introduced with the launch of the Lightfall expansion, players don’t need to own the expansion to give and receive commendations.

Critics Blast Kids Choice Awards for Not Sliming More Female Nominees

LOS ANGELES — Following the recent Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, many viewers and participants slammed the award ceremony for not sliming more female nominees.

“Of the twenty people slimed, only four were women,” said Kids’ Choice Awards watcher Theresa Mayhew. “I don’t understand why these award shows refuse to acknowledge the accomplishments of women, and never realize that a woman can get coated in a thick, viscous green goop just as well as a man can.”

Previous Kid’s Choice Award Winner Ariana Grande said that the lack of female representation in the sliming community reflects the industry as a whole.

“When I was slimed, it was a huge upset that a woman was able to push through and have gallons of goo explode in her face,” Grande said. “People were instantly posting and tweeting that one of my fellow nominees like Dora’s Backpack or Mr. Krabs deserved it far more. We have to work twice as hard to get up to that podium underneath the slime vat, but when I was spraying the neon sludge out of my hair the rest of the night, it all felt worth it.”

Nickelodeon President Brian Robbins elaborated on steps the company would be taking to be more inclusive in the future.

“We’ve decided that our award process needs to be more fair to all genders,” Robbins said. “Going forward, we’ve decided to split up some of the categories to make sure more women have the same chance to be dunked in a mysterious green residue. Categories like Best Kiss, Favorite Funny Animal, and Most Epic Dance Move will now have male and female categories to make sure the sliming is equally doled out among men and women alike.”

At press time, Kids’ Choice Award sources also reported the tragic statistic that the women who do break the glass ceiling only receive 70% of the slime of their male counterparts.

MCU Saves Millions on New Ant-Man Film by Having Paul Rudd Walk on Knees the Whole Time Instead of Using CGI

LOS ANGELES — Fans of the first two Ant-Man movies were shocked to discover that the latest entry, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, used practical effects to simulate Ant-Man’s signature shrinking powers.

“With rising costs and heavier workloads for our CGI department, we had to do something new,” said Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. “I asked the director to find a solution. When he came back with his idea, I was stunned. I mean, having Paul Rudd get on his knees to shrink? Genius. I couldn’t believe we wasted so much money on the first two Ant-Man films.”

While the innovative idea is making waves in the film industry, director Peyton Reed noted that the practice actually has roots in classic cinema.

“As a young man, I was inspired by the 1987 film Dorf on Golf, in which the 5’ 6” Tim Conway plays a much shorter character. When Kevin asked us to cut costs, I knew it was finally my chance to repeat that technical feat in my own film,” said Reed. “There are challenges, of course, like making sure Paul’s legs aren’t visible behind him, which I think we did in a good nine out of ten shots. You can barely even tell we didn’t use CGI.”

Paul Rudd was reportedly very excited to try out this new method of acting.

“When they told me I would be spending a lot of the movie on my knees, I was like, ‘Whoa, man.’ I mean, it’s just a regular size guy kneeling down, right? How does that work? But then I saw the final cut of the film, and boom, I’m way smaller. It’s movie magic,” said Rudd. When asked how the movie would handle his character’s ability to grow in size, Rudd gave his signature charming smile and said, “Two words: tippy toes.”

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quatumania opened in theaters on February 17 and has seen universal praise for its practical effects and sparing use of CGI.

Destiny 2: Lightfall Zephyr Concourse Regional Chests Guide

Lightfall, the latest expansion to Destiny 2, has arrived and with it comes a new location to explore, the city of Neomuna on Neptune. As with other planets, moons and exotic locales, there are a series of chests scattered throughout Neomuna known as regional chests, including in the subregion Zephyr Concourse. They contain handy gear and glimmer that can help in the early hours of the expansion, and you need to open three for the quest ‘From Zero…’, so be sure to seek them out as soon as you can. There are three regions in Neomuna with chests in them, so if you need help finding the regional chests in Zephyr Concourse, this guide can help.

Zephyr Concourse Regional Chests: Chest 1

If you enter Zephyr Concourse from Striders’ Gate, this will be the nearest chest, so take care of this one first. We’ve included a screenshot of the map to show where you should be standing.

From the ground floor you’ll see a balcony, you can either jump up directly or enter the building and go up the stairs to exit from the second level.

Once you’ve made your way up, look toward the pathway leading to Striders’ Gate. Refer to your map if you need further guidance, or this picture.

You’ll need to leap up on the platform jutting out of the wall, then turn around and jump on the sloped roof and follow it up to find the chest.

Congratulations, one down, two to go!

Second Chest in Zephyr Concourse

The location of the second chest in Destiny 2: Lightfall Zephyr Concourse.

The next chest we’ll direct you to is on the west side of Zephyr Concourse. Once again, refer to the map screen above for the right location.

If you’re looking at the wall, you’ll notice the chest sitting in a room behind some glass, but you can’t break it, so you’ll have to find another way in.

If you turn around and head to the floor beneath your current one, you’ll find another window nearby, this time with broken glass.

Enter the cell, and jump up into the wall vent, summoning your ghost to light the way. The hall is a single corridor so use your ghost to light the way and you’ll find the chest in no time. Just one more to go!

Zephyr Concourse: Third Regional Chest

The third Zephyr Concourse regional chest location in Destiny 2 Lightfall.

The third and final region chest in Zephyr Concourse is located on the southeast side. It’s also the easiest to find, when you know where to look. Once again, refer to the map above to make sure you’re in the right place.

When you’re standing at the edge of the building you’re on, look down to the makeshift platforms. One of them will be situated in front of an opening in the face of the wall. Jump down to it.

Once you’ve landed on it, the chest will be right in front of you. Open it and you’ll have each region chest in Zephyr Concourse. Congratulations!
