Microsoft To Acquire IRS To Avoid Paying Back Taxes

REDMOND, Wash. — Microsoft confirmed plans to acquire the Internal Revenue Service late Tuesday afternoon, describing its move as a tactical response to the IRS’ statement that the Redmond-based technology giant owed $29 billion in back taxes.

“Simple math,” said head of Xbox Phil Spencer, explaining Microsoft’s rationale after insisting the acquisition was his idea. “We owe the IRS $29 billion, but all their assets combined are only worth $29 billion. So why not put our money to work and gobble ’em up? Hey, and who knows? Maybe the IRS could play a villain role in the next mainline Halo game.

President Joe Biden was none too happy about Microsoft poaching the federal government’s revenue service.

“They really got us good this time,” Biden said, shaking his head while burning an incriminating W-2 form live in front of an audience of journalists. “Tax season is going to be crazy come 2024. As is the upcoming slate of Xbox games from what I’ve seen. Hey, you don’t need to do a vision test to play that Forza thing, do you?

During the surprise press conference announcing the news, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella’s excitement was palpable, attending in a homemade Marcus Fenix costume.

“Tim Cook dies tonight,” said Nadella, shortly after announcing that Apple would be the first company to enter a new 95% tax bracket. “Furthermore, all of you are now going to have to file your taxes on Windows devices, with a penalty if said device isn’t a Surface laptop. On the bright side, tax deductions will be available to active Game Pass subscribers. Also, the filing date will move from mid-April to whenever the yearly Microsoft Build event takes place.”

As of press time, Activision CEO Bobby Kotick was seen asking his pet rock why he hadn’t thought of acquiring the IRS first.

Spider-Man 2 PS5 New Game Plus Guide: Does it Have NG+?

Want to play New Game Plus in Spider-Man 2? We’ve got you covered with our guide to the mode in the latest PS5 exclusive!

New Game Plus is becoming more and more popular among gamers as a way to replay a game they love with existing skills. With great, long games coming out this year like Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Baldur’s Gate 3, there was plenty for players to discover after the main campaign. But, with Spider-Man 2‘s relatively shorter runtime, players may be more eager to jump back into the main story right away. Unfortunately, though, they won’t quite be able to jump back in as soon as the game is out.

Does Spider-Man 2 Have New Game+?

Unfortunately, Spider-Man 2 does not have New Game Plus at launch. Despite the mode being present in Spider-Man: Miles Morales on release, the new sequel takes a step back. Players looking to jump right back into the game right after clearing the main story will unfortunately have to do so without their unlocked skills.

Luckily, though, this won’t be the case for long. Insomniac Games’ community director has already confirmed that the mode is coming before the end of the year. Somehow, that is already only two and a half months away, so NG+ should be coming to the game soon!

If the upcoming Spider-Man 2 new game plus is like the original game’s, players can expect a pretty robust experience waiting for them when the update releases. Gadgets & upgrades, skills, and suits all transferred over in that game’s mode, letting players play as the most powerful version of Spider-Man and look good doing it. Spider-Man‘s New Game Plus update also came with Ultimate difficulty to let players really challenge themselves, so perhaps this mode could come to the sequel as well.

That’s all you need to know about the forthcoming Spider-Man 2 new game plus! While you wait, maybe you could play Nintendo’s big Q4 release, Super Mario Bros. Wonder!

Detective Pikachu Turns in Gun and Badge after Volt Tackling an Innocent Civilian

RYME CITY — World renowned Detective Pikachu has turned in his gun and badge to the Ryme City Police Department (RCPD) after mistakenly Volt Tacking an innocent civilian.

“It is with great sadness that we will be dismissing Detective Pikachu from the force,” said Officer Jenny in a press briefing yesterday. “At 11:49 last night, an ordinary citizen named Wesley Walker was mistaken as a suspect in a poison sting operation. Unaware of this, Detective Pikachu Volt Tackled Walker, inflicting 90 HP damage and a 10% chance of paralysis. Needless to say, it hit Wes pretty hard.”

Since the incident last night, protesters have gathered outside of RCPD Headquarters. Gina Walker, the victim’s wife, leads protests calling for the removal of Detective Pikachu, and the defunding of the police department.

“The law enforcement in this city just hurt itself with Confusion” she said. “The residents of Ryme City should not have to live in fear of being critically hit on the street. We might not like to admit it, but ACAB definitely applies to Detective Pikachu.”

This incident is not the first time the detective has been in hot water. Back in August, Pikachu was accused of using excessive shock waves to subdue a pickpocketing Mr. Mime, sparking outrage from both the people and Pokémon of Ryme City.

When approached for comments on this recent incident, Mr. Mime said, “Mr. Mime Mr. Mime Mr. Mime!?”

As of press time, disgraced Detective Pikachu has been sent to a daycare upstate for the foreseeable future.

Celebrities Reveal the Video Games That Changed Their Lives

Our readers have told us time and again that video games have changed their lives, once or twice for the better. Did you know that celebrities love gaming just like we do? That’s right: passionately, obsessively, and often to the detriment of their hygiene and mental health. Here are your favorite celebrities sharing the games that have transformed them into the modern demigods that we selectively exalt or destroy at a moment’s notice!

Jenna Ortega

Paper Mario: Sticker Star taught me that stickers weren’t just fun things to glue onto the headlights of my dad’s police car. They were my closest friends, some with voices so beautiful that only I could understand them. It’s also the reason I always carry a hammer in my overalls.”

Chris Pratt

“When I did bad at shot put the coach used to lock me in the school basement, and the only thing there was to do was play this game Bible Adventures on NES. I played it over and over, until the words of our savior Jesus Christ were burned into the back of my retinas. That’s where my famous raptor-training pose comes from. I’m trying to baptize them, but they’re just too fast.”

Megan Fox

“I mean I’d say Mortal Kombat 1 since it helped me afford the bodyguards who currently keep Michael Bay from sniffing around my dirty laundry hamper.”

Ariana Grande

“I like GTA V because I can pretend I’m cruising by Nickelodeon Studios in LA and really letting the producers suck shit. Screaming ‘Die, die, die!’ while gunning down a pedo is my most important vocal warm-up.”

Lil Nas X

Hades was the inspiration for ‘Montero.’ There were so many fuckable characters hanging out in Hell that the music video kind of wrote itself.”

Nicholas Cage

“You ever play MadWorld on the Wii? You got this chainsaw arm that you slice up people with. VWEEE! VWEEEEEE! You know what I mean, junior?! Other than that I would say Hello Kitty Island Adventure which is a transcendent delight for the senses.”

Keanu Reeves

“I love classic horror but hate performances that pull you out of the movie. That’s why I love Bram Stoker’s Dracula for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. It’s a great way to experience the film without having to hear my slipshod British accent.”

Sean Penn

“My favorite game is Superman 64. And I know what you’ll say: ‘That’s a really edgy unexpected choice.’ And rightfully so. I work really hard to cultivate that image and make you forget the Madonna stuff. In a way, I’m kind of like Superman. Fighting tirelessly for a better world that’ll never come because everything’s a broken piece of shit.”

Timothee Chalamet

“I’ve said this before, but I was obsessed with Final Fantasy 7 until Cait Sith broke my heart. I loved that beautiful bastard. I even took him on the ferris wheel at Gold Saucer, and he cucked me over just like Princess Bubblegum cucked Finn. I’d harbor that resentment every day of my life until I got my revenge, releasing a version of Willy Wonka so repellant that it would destroy old people’s will to live, just like Cait Sith did to me.”

Kylie Jenner

“The ladies in my family swallow a lot of hard-to-find umbilical cords as part of our youth-inducing blood ministries, so the game that made me feel really seen was Bloodborne. But for the past month or so, I’ve fallen in love with Lies of P! Timothee is amazing in it!”

Scarlett Johansson

“I absolutely adored Ghost of Tsushima. It helped me connect with the both suffering and the strength of my ancestors.”

Pedro Pascal

“Anything by Microsoft! Sony ponies wish they had the games we got! I mean, fuck. Delete that! Off the record! Off the record! Fuck, fuck, fuck!”

Gordon Ramsey

“I actually became a TV personality because of Cooking Mama. An agent saw me shouting profanities at this baffling two-dimensional cunt on my screen and told me that if I was that good at demeaning fictional women, I’d be able to make a career out of decimating real ones.”

Nick Cannon

Pikmin helped me realize my truest fantasy: spreading my seeds worldwide. RISE, MY CHILDREN! DEVOUR AND PROPAGATE!”

Jonah Hill

“I’m a big fan of the original Bioshock. There’s just something very… compelling about the idea that you can control a human being’s thoughts and actions with your words. I’ve tried and it’s a lot harder than it looks.”

Armie Hammer

“I love eating them and absorbing their powers. When you get the cutter, throw it, and take someone down from a few feet away, it’s very satisfying. But in terms of games, I love Destiny.”

Brie Larson

“For like forever I’ve wanted to play Samus in a Super Metroid movie. It’s my favorite game. I’ve spent hours with gymnasts and trainers and yoga gurus trying to curl into a perfect little ball like Samus, but none of the so-called experts have the guts to shatter my spine and roll me down a bowling alley like an armadillo. Fucking pussies.”

Millie Bobby Brown

“Did I hear a Rock and Stone? That’s it, lads! Rock and Stone! May your beards be thick and your gold satchels heavy! Where is that damn M.U.L.E.?! Rock and Stone in the heart!”

Leonardo DiCaprio

“This might sound phony because I’m getting older, but I exclusively play modern games. Tears of the Kingdom, Hogwarts Legacy. Basically anything that’s less than 25 years old.”

Jennifer Lawrence

“I’ve been accused of pandering in the past, and I’m like, WHUT. Girl, no.” (NOTE: Lawrence proceeded to dance and make goat noises for approximately 30 seconds.) “But like, DUDE. Chrono Trigger and like- (reading) Twilight Prin- Pringles? Those games are bonkers fun.”

Thank God: Uneducated Influencer Just Gave Their Take on Major Political Conflict

TWITCH.TV — Oh, thank God: a major influencer has just given their take on the ongoing major political conflict. If you’ve been waiting on how to feel about this conflict until one of the most popular, uninformed content creators gave you permission, wait no longer: the moron just weighed in.

“Uhhh, yeah, looks like the situation is pretty bad over there, chat,” the influencer said, 30 seconds into watching someone else’s video on the topic. “It looks like there’s some good people on both sides, though, and uh… yeah. That’s my thoughts.”

After getting past the first minute of the video, the streamer’s attention started drifting elsewhere, possibly  ordering food or something. At the conclusion of the video, though, the streamer seemed to have finally solved the conflict.

“So let me get this straight, chat,” the streamer said, before diving into a summary that showed no critical understanding of the video they just watched or the world at-large. “Why don’t we just put all of the conflicting countries together into one place, and we could call it, like, I don’t know, Country? I would think that would solve it. I don’t know. This is pretty complicated, chat. I’m not used to dissecting situations with any sort of nuance whatsoever.”

Well, that solves it! Now we know exactly how to feel about the current ongoing sociopolitical disagreement. We should simply all collaborate and consolidate into a single nation. Chatters, however, had quite mixed reactions to the visionary’s solution.

“Get this guy off the platform,” said user BigCupOfJ0e. “This is bordering on incredibly dangerous misinformation that can have dangerous ramifications.”

At press time, though, the streamer’s chat was mostly filled with users spamming the ResidentSleeper emote and begging the streamer to do literally anything else.

Geoff Keighley Starts Martial Arts Training in Preparation for Stage Crashers at This Year’s Game Awards

LOS ANGELES Game Awards presenter Geoff Keighley announced he’s undergoing intense martial arts training to prepare for the Game Awards occurring this December, directly in response to the startling increase in stage crashers during events he has hosted over the last year.

“I’ll admit, I thought the first one was a fluke,” said Keighley, 45, speaking of the 2023 Game Awards last December while he practiced his punches against the trunk of an old oak tree in his backyard. “It was a 15-year-old kid who was ranting about rabbis and Bill Clinton. My first thought was ‘Wow, somebody in security really messed up. A little weird, but these things happen’.”

While the stage crasher was brought offstage and arrested immediately, Keighley found that the notoriety from it only encouraged copycats.

“After that were the two guys from Opening Night Live in August,” he continued as he worked on breaking pieces of lumber in half with his high kicks. “One of them rushed at me to grab the mic while yelling about GTA 6. I swear I saw my whole life flash before my eyes. After that was over, I vowed that I would stop the next stage crasher with my own two hands.”

As he polished his katana with a look of determination in his eyes, Keighley said that the stakes could not be higher for him personally.

“A one-time occurrence is just a weird thing. Two times is a coincidence. If this happens a third time, it will become a meme, and then every show I host or present for the rest of my career will be plagued with them.”

Keighley was last seen sitting in his car in the parking lot of his dojo, cutting the sleeves off of all his suit jackets for better mobility.

Indie RPG That Can’t Decide on an Artstyle Just Going To Use All of Them

SEATTLE — After struggling to decide on what art style to use for their upcoming RPG maker game, an independent game developer chose to just go ahead and use every single one of them instead.

“It wasn’t an easy decision to make,” explained indie developer Mark Hanson, “so we just didn’t decide on anything at all. Yeah. We were tired of trying to decide whether to go with something either anime-inspired, comic book-inspired, old school 2D sprite-inspired, or flat-out realistic. So we just tossed all that shit into the game and moved on with our lives. More is always better, right?”

Response to the game’s reveal was mixed.

“I wish I could say I see what they went for here, but I really don’t,” read one comment from IAmError. “The gameplay looks fun, but everything is just sorta… all over the place. Sometimes the characters look like they’re drawn from a retro manga, and then other cutscenes depict them like figures from a renaissance painting. It really takes your brain a second to catch up with.”

Hanson defended his artistic decision.

“There’s truly something here for everybody,” said Hanson. “Don’t like how the character looks in one cutscene? Well, you’re sure to like their other design in the next one, or maybe the one after that. That’s something truly great about modern technology– it affords us this fantastic wealth of options.”

At press time, it was revealed that the developer tossed a bunch of prompts into an AI blender and published whatever nonsense it spat out.

It has the Staggering Legendary perk by default, which expectedly has a small chance to stagger enemies.

Syndicate Enforcer: Starfield Epic Melee Katana

An Epic variant of the Wakizashi that has the same base damage, but rolls two Legendary perks: Berserker, which does more damage the less armor you have, and Lacerate, which randomly applies the bleeding status effect to targets. You can obtain it during the course of the Ryujin Industries faction quest “Guilty Parties”, but also outside of the quest if you want to get it early. The Syndicate Enforcer can be found inside a yellow weapon case in the Seokguh Syndicate Hideout, which is located in the city of Neon, on Volii Alpha in the Volii System.

Va’ruun Painblade: Starfield Best Common Melee Weapon

This odd looking one-handed melee weapon has the highest base damage among melee weapons at 62 damage. The Va’ruun Painblade is difficult to come by, and can only be bought from a single known vendor: Zuri Abara of the Crimson Fleet in The Depot aboard The Key StarStation in the orbit of Suvorov, in the Kryx System. It may also be randomly looted from the corpses of Va’ruun Zealots and Crimson Fleet pirates.

The Last Priest: Starfield Best Melee Weapon

The Last Priest, the best Starfield melee weapon.

A Rare variant of the Va’ruun Painblade with the same base damage of 62, in addition to a Legendary perk: Elemental, which randomly deals Corrosive, Radiation, Poison, and Incendiary damage. You can acquire this weapon by siding with the Hunter over the Emissary during the mission “Unearthed”, and following through on his request during the mission “Infinity’s End”. Upon returning to him, you will be given The Last Priest as a completion reward.

Those are all the melee weapons in Starfield ranked from worst to best. Check out more of our Starfield guides on the best sniper rifle and the best mods for the game.

Every MCU Avenger’s Favorite Video Game

The MCU has dominated the box office for over a decade now and countless articles have been written about the film universe. Somehow no one has thought to ask: what video games are these superheroes playing? Until now.

Iron Man: Candy Crush Saga

Tony Stark claims to love cutting-edge games that push the boundaries of technology. That’s a lie. He only plays addictive mobile where his infinite money makes up for any lack of skil or luckl. He’s spent literal millions of dollars on Candy Crush

Okoye: Dark Souls

Okoye thinks video games are a waste of time and scolds Shuri anytime she catches her playing them. But she did get roped into trying Dark Souls when she heard everyone talking about how hard it was and played it non-stop until she beat the game.

Captain America: Chrono Trigger

After being unfrozen Cap played through all of the most acclaimed games and landed on Chrono Trigger as the best. He cries like a baby every time he gets to the part where Chrono dies.

Bruce Banner: Animal Crossing

A lot of video games are too stressful for Bruce to play without hulking out. Fortunately, Animal Crossing is a nice relaxing game he can sink a seemingly infinite amount of time into.

The Hulk: Kinect Adventures

Hulk destroys any controller he holds, so motion controls are his only real option. He loves Kinect Adventures but has destroyed many houses after jumping through the roof and floor playing the whitewater rafting mini-game.

Smart Hulk: Just Dance 3

With the intelligence of Bruce Banner and the strength of Hulk, Smart Hulk still can’t use a controller but desires something a little more interesting than Kinect Adventures. That’s where Just Dance comes in. 3 is his favorite because it has “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” by Queen.

Thor: God of War

The original series, to be clear. He considered the reboot both sacrileges and laugh-worthy. He would easily destroy Kratos in combat.

Black Widow: Mario Party

Most people think Mario Party is a game of chance but Natasha knows better. She understands that Mario Party, like espionage, is about gathering information and manipulating people’s emotions. She knows every game’s bonus stars, every map’s gimmick, and can talk her way out of getting her star stolen every single time.

Nick Fury: Suikoden

He really likes assembling a party of destined heroes to save the world. It’s kind of his whole deal.

Wasp: Mario Kart

Hope has very little interest in video games. But when she does let Scott talk her into playing Mario Kart with him Hope gets competitive enough to use her blasters mid-race if she thinks she’s going to lose.

Winter Soldier: Tetris

It’s the only game he was allowed to play when he was the Winter Soldier. He’s really good at it.

Hawkeye: Ghost of Tsushima

Hawkeye told his wife he had to play Ghost of Tsushima to make amends to the people of Japan for all the murders he did there. After he finished Kate Bishop saw him shed a single tear and whisper “My blood debt is repaid. You’re welcome Japan.”

Shuri: Fortnite

Shuri plays a lot of games but she plays Fortnite every single night. Despite being really good, she’s not competitive, she just wants to unlock dances. She’s Gen Z through and through.

Quicksilver: Pokemon Go

Quicksilver’s speed makes most games too slow for him to enjoy. He really would have liked Pokemon Go because he could have hit every Pokestop in the state in a matter of minutes. Unfortunately, he died before it came out.

Scarlet Witch: The Sims

Before turning to dark magics and reality-bending Scarlet Witch got really into The Sims. She liked it a lot at first but then her sim family died so she played all the other families and drowned them in swimming pools. Someone should really talk Wanda into grief counselling.

Vision: Persona 5

Vision likes Persona 5 for its strategic combat, bold art direction, and exploration of Jungian philosophy. He also enjoys the simulated friendships which he thinks of as practice for social interaction. That said he’s a real prude about the problematic romance options.

War Machine: Enter the Gungeon

Tony bought this for him as a gag gift but Rhodie actually got really into it. Now he’s constantly trying to get other people to play it so he can talk about all the secret boss fights and weapon synergies.

Spider-Man: The Last of Us

We already know the MCU version of Peter Parker is into really old media so it’s no surprise his favorite game is this super old, obscure game called The Last of Us. Have you ever heard of it?

Falcon/Captain America: Starfox

Sam Wilson is a feathery and his first childhood crush was Falco. He really wishes Nintendo could figure out how to make another good Starfox. Us too, Sam, us too.

Captain Marvel: Ms. Pac-Man

Carol Danvers was abducted from Earth in 1989 so most of her gaming experiences were in an arcade. No, incels she’s not into Ms. Pac-Man because it has a female character it’s just the way better version of Pac-Man

Nebula: Fire Emblem: Three Houses

Nebula is new to Earth video games and she immediately became obsessed with Fire Emblem: Three Houses. She claims to like the combat, but she’s been caught by multiple people whispering “and now they will kiss” to herself while she plays.

Rocket: Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Like Nebula, Rocket only knows modern games. Fortunately, Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the perfect game for him. It’s all tinkering, stealing body parts, and making janky machines. He’s played hundreds of hours and hasn’t done any of the temples.

Ant-Man: Rock Band 3

Ant-Man canonically owns and plays Rock Band. Rock Band 3 is his favorite because he’s a big keytar guy.

Black Panther: Final Fantasy Tactics

T’Challa is a big-time gamer who loves RPGs. Final Fantasy Tactics drew him in with its flawless tactical combat but he found its themes about history, power, and religion resonated with his own experiences as royalty.

Dr. Strange: Pokemon

Dr. Strange is a long-time competitive Pokémon player. He used to use his photographic memory with a comprehensive knowledge of every possible ability, move set, and interaction to obliterate children. Now that he has magic he just looks into the future to cheat.

KSI Reacts to Penguinz0 Reacts to Jacksfilms Reacts to What Sssniperwolf Just Did

LONDON — Internet personality Olajide Olatunji, aka KSI, denounced fellow YouTuber Sssniperwolf’s recent actions in a livestream Wednesday morning, doing so by way of reacting to Penguinz0’s coverage of Jacksfilms’ video on the topic.

“Thank god Charlie and John took the first crack at this,” Olatunji said, laughing. “I can’t imagine reacting to Sssniperwolf’s unhinged bullshit without knowing whether it was socially palatable to do so. Gotta protect the brand, you know?”

Charles “Charlie” Christopher White Jr., aka Penguinz0, was similarly grateful to John Patrick Douglass (Jacksfilms) for biting the bullet first, telling fans he’d sent Douglass a rose bouquet and a brand-new 2023 Lamborghini Huracán as a token of his appreciation.

“Seriously, shout out to John for taking this on the chin,” White Jr. said. “Chat, give John a ‘big ups.’ I’ve been waiting a hot minute to call out Sssniperwolf on her clickbait garbage content, but, as you guys know, I can only farm drama views regarding other people’s problems. I don’t want that tsunami in my house. So let’s give it up for John; he teed me up real good.”

Douglass seemed to be treating the situation more seriously than his cohorts, reacting to the news by way of streaming from a freshly constructed war bunker. In the stream, he could be seen wearing Kevlar and holding an AR-15.

“I swear to fuck, if Sssniperwolf and her lip fillers come anywhere near my property, getting cancelled is going to be the least of her worries,” Douglass said with dark shadows under his eyes, indicating he hadn’t slept in some time. “Let’s see how well she pulls off those stupid thumbnail expressions of hers while dodging live rounds.”

At press time, YouTuber and streamer Philip Burnell, aka DSPGaming, announced on X that he’d be reacting to KSI’s Sssniperwolf react stream precisely three years from now, well after the news became obsolete. “If you thought me masturbating on stream was bad, get a load of this wolf sniper lady,” he said in a follow-up X post.
