Every Smash Bros. Character Ranked by How Good a Friend I Think They Would Be

#20 — Lucas

Lucas is funny and sweet and always nice to see at events or whatever, but he is straight up a child. His parents are probably more your friend than he is, but he’s a cool little guy! Gonna do big things one day, I’m sure.

#19 — Min Min

Everyone knows Min Min is a foodie and loves going to cool restaurants. But she also just likes sharing cool stuff she finds in general. You’re always getting emails with New York Times articles in them from Min Min. She’s definitely kind of a “normie,” but you should feel embarrassed even saying shit like that, dude.

#18 — Yoshi

Yooooshiiiii!!! Haha. Yoshi rocks. Kind of empty, but he rocks. Hanging out with Yoshi is like eating a bag of Skittles.

#17 — Donkey Kong

I don’t know if Donkey Kong is actually anyone’s friend, but he rocks. Kinda guy you see once a year and he’s crazy the whole time and then you leave and you’re like, that was fun! See ya next year!

#16 — Richter Belmont

Richter Belmont is a genuine cheerleader for all his friends. He has a perfect memory for everything you’re working on and he’s always the first person to shout you out for it. That being said, if you start asking him about what he’s up to, he gets really whiny and self-deprecating in a way that makes you roll your eyes.

#15 — Incineroar

Incineroar, self conscious about the fact that they can only say their own name, makes up for it by being over-the-top helpful. They don’t need to be at all, and sometimes it’s actually a little much, but they mean well.

#14 — Byleth

Byleth is always complaining about how hard and annoying it is to be a teacher, but she’s actually really good at it and her students remember her impact for the rest of their lives, so you can’t really complain too much about it. Like it’s annoying and then she takes you to a school event one time and you’re like holy shit you taught that guy how to ride a wyvern?!

#13 — Terry

Terry and I are eskimo brothers. We go way back.

#12 — Banjo and Kazooie

You will never hang out with one of these guys alone (and thank god because if you somehow did, it would be EXTREMELY awkward — they just FREEZE UP), but when they’re together, they just feed off each other’s energies in such a great way. Always nice to run into them at a party or something.

#11 — Little Mac

Little Mac is a sporty dude and always willing to do something fun. Like if you text him, “hey you free Saturday? I have a cool idea,” he’ll say yes before you say what it is. If you spend too much time inside, he gets a little antsy, but it’s kind of a nice quality in some ways.

#10 — Mii Brawler

I would never tell Little Mac this, but I kinda think Mii Brawler is a very similar guy but a little more humble. And Little Mac knows this and, deep down, kinda hates it, but would never admit it. He’s always being like overly nice to overcompensate, but Mii Brawler just has the goods. Nice guy.

#9 — Sephiroth

Sephiroth was really into being goth when he was in high school and now he’s just a cool guy with a really interesting past and a ton of great stories. He doesn’t have a lot of friends because he’s pretty solitary, but if you end up sitting next to him at a wedding or something, you’re gonna have a blast.

#8 — Hero

Hero has straight up no sense of humor and you have to be careful saying jokes around him because he will NOT know you are kidding. That being said, he is maybe one of the nicest and most genuine people you’ll ever meet. He’s wholesome in a way that isn’t cringey, which I really appreciate, because I’m such a cynic.

#7 — Ganondorf

Lotta people don’t like Ganondorf and he has a lot of enemies, but it’s only because he’s willing to speak his mind. If someone is being an asshole, he’s not just going to stand by idly. It’s not something I always love being a part of, but I respect it a lot because I don’t really have that in me. And if you’re his friend? He is extremely loyal.

#6 — King Dedede

King Dedede might act like he’s a dumbass for a goof, but he’s lowkey really smart and has a great personality. If you need him to, he’ll give great advice and he’s not afraid to be honest (in a supportive way) so that it’s actually helpful.

#5 — Kazuya Mishima

Kazuya Mishima is really busy and hard to get a hold of sometimes, but when you do hang out, it’s a really good hang. Like things get really deep and he has this way of getting people to open up. He’s just a great listener.

#4 — Luigi

Maybe because he’s always stuck in Mario’s shadow (despite being taller!), Luigi is just down to Earth. Yeah, he’s really famous, but he’s also really shy. He’s just a good dude and I have a lot of respect for him.

#3 — Pichu

Yeah everyone knows Pichu is nice. And they’re a little quiet for sure. But when you actually get to know them, they’re sooooooooo funny. When we hang out one-on-one, they are cracking me up the whole time. Love that little fucker.

#2 — Sheik

There’s something about Sheik that just screams cool. I dunno what it is, but he’s just a really cool guy. He’s mysterious and awesome and on top of that, he’s just a good guy. Dudes rock.

#1 — Kirby

Kirby is my best friend in the whole world. I don’t know what I would do without him. He is with me through thick and thin. If I ever am going through something, he will absorb my issues and spit it out as something beautiful. Thank you for being my best man at my wedding, Kirby.
