Now you can mix in some horror without saturating the whole experience

Hi everyone – Ty here.

We’re loving your Anomaly stories! Please keep it up with the duplicated babies, shambler babies, and gray labyrinth baby drama. This expansion explores new ground creatively for RimWorld and it’s been incredibly gratifying to see people having new kinds of stories in the game.

Releases like this bring massive amounts of feedback, which is always incredibly valuable for us to understand how the game is playing and what people want. This time around, many players have said they’d like to be able to mix Anomaly content more into the rest of the game so it feels like less of a self-contained experience, and more like something that integrates into a normal playthrough.

Originally, we had Anomaly throw a ton of content at you guys because we wanted to be sure people would experience all the new stuff and see how much was really there. We may have pushed a bit too far there - Anomaly has tons of content and exposing it all too fast was saturating the experience. This is great for a certain type of intense, focused playthrough, but the game should also support other playstyles.

Today’s update addresses that with some key changes and new features:

Anomaly content is less dominant by default while the monolith is active. You’ll see more incidents from the base game and other expansions now.

You can customize how Anomaly-focused you want your playthrough to be. We added sliders to the game settings that let you choose how much you want Anomaly horror events to dominate the game. If you want it to be pure horror when the monolith is active, you can. If you want the horror to be a light sprinkle on top of the rest of your RimWorld, you can do that. You can alter these settings any time in the options menu by opening the storyteller settings (and this is possible on games started in previous versions).

You don’t need to see every entity on every playthrough. We reduced the number of entities you must interact with before advancing the monolith. You still can wait to see every entity, but it’s your choice now. This spreads the experience further over more playthroughs, if you choose.

We've updated the Anomaly scenario to start with three researchers and a ghoul (up from two). This gets you into the meat of the game quicker when using this scenario.

We’re making other ongoing minor changes as well - see the full changelog below for details.

Game Lent to Friend Officially Declared Dead

TORONTO — Local gamer Shay Freger’s copy of the Nintendo Switch remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, which he lent to a friend months ago has officially been declared dead authorities have confirmed.

Toronto Police Chief Adam Stockman confirmed the news in a press conference.

“While it’s a tragic conclusion to this case, we have determined that with the game still being with the friend after this length of time, it’s safe to assume it’s dead and the case is closed,” Stockman solemnly stated. “It’s not a long game, about fifteen hours plus it’s on a portable console. Mr. Freger lent the game to his friend five months ago, he should have beaten it and returned it by now. The only explanation for its continued absence is that it’s dead.”

Freger is mourning the loss but is glad to finally have closure.

“I lent it to my buddy Johnny in late November and I was happy to do it, he didn’t have anything to play and was a Zelda fan who had never played it,” explained Freger. “I knew he’d like it so I gave it to him. I didn’t think he’d have it for so long, it’s not a long game. He’s a busy guy so after a month I didn’t think anything of it but by months two and three I was really questioning him but he kept dodging the question. While I’m relieved to finally have closure, I wish I still had it. I only played it once and never touched it again but you never know when you might want to pick it back up.”

Freger says that he doesn’t blame Johnny for the loss.

“I can see now that Johnny was just trying to be a good friend and protect me from the tragedy of the game dying. They really don’t make games like they used to, there are so many ways new games can just die. I guess that’s what happened here, either that or Johnny is just keeping it but he would never do that, he’s my friend.”

Freger’s friend Johnny could not be reached for comment.

At press time, authorities say there are still hundreds of games lent to friends that are still missing.

Dr. Mario Hit With Malpractice Lawsuit for Overprescribing Half Yellow/Half Red Pills

MORGANTOWN, W. Va — Dr. Mario has been served a malpractice lawsuit over allegations he has been overprescribing half yellow/half red Pills pills in the West Virginia city of Morgantown.

Kyle Duggan, a patient of Dr. Mario, originally went to see the disgraced medical practitioner for a sensitive medical issue, but has found himself growing dependent on the capsules the Dr. seems to prescribe for every malady under the sun.

“I got the crabs real bad down at HamHocks, that’s a gentlemen’s club here in town, and when I went to see Dr. Mario, he prescribed them half yella’/half red pills which struck me as peculiar cause normally they give a shampoo for that,” Duggan said. “Then a couple of weeks later I twisted my ankle chasin’ after one of them damned kids who likes to knock my trash cans over, and he gave me more of the same pills. I thought it was a bit odd, but they seemed to do the job so I didn’t question it too much. I been addicted ever since.”

Dr. Mario himself responded to the allegations, but his nonsensical ramblings left concerned citizens and former patients more mystified than anything else.

“Uh-oh! Oh nooooo!” Dr. Mario said during one interview with the local press. After standing idle for a moment the doctor appeared to nod off and began muttering the names of various pasta dishes in his sleep until being shaken awake by an onlooker. When asked to leave the premises the doctor simply replied, “Okie dokie!”

Jacob Jakey from the law firm Jakey, Jakey, & Jakey is representing Mr. Duggan along with the other patients who claim Dr. Mario has been overprescribing the mysterious half-yellow/half-red pills.

“Mr. Duggan, along with my other clients, are victims of yet another medical fraudster who has no qualms about taking advantage of people who committed the grave sin of choosing to trust their doctor,” Jakey said. “This is just the latest example of yet another fast-talking ‘doctor’ choosing to line their own pockets with money from big pharma rather than live up to their own Hippocratic oath. Obsidian Announces a Much Better Fallout Show

IRVINE, Calif. — With the release of Amazon’s TV adaptation of the Fallout game series being a huge success, Obsidian Entertainment has officially announced their own, much better Fallout television show.

Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart made the official announcement.

“Obsidian is proud to announce we’ll be working directly with Amazon on the new show Fallout: New Vegas! It will use the same technology as the original Fallout show to improve it in every way imaginable. Thankfully, Bethesda gave their blessing to us provided we only have 75% of the full budget. But we will utilize the pennies they called a budget to make a show that the fans will love and will constantly bring up to people who like the Bethesda show”

Many hardcore Fallout fans who voiced displeasure with perceived lore changes in the show have reacted to this news positively.

“It’s great that someone who actually understands Fallout is going to make a show,” said New Vegas fan Mark Simmons. “I tried to watch the current one but it’s everything Bethesda gets wrong about the series they made famous boiled down into a single TV series and to top it off they spit in the face of us true fans with their vague environmental storytelling that confirmed New Vegas isn’t canon. Shame on them.”

“New Vegas is a true Fallout experience, that’s probably why Bethesda tried to wipe it from existence with the show. Because they know that they don’t actually know Fallout,” said Jacob Mallory, a Fallout fan who only likes the first two and New Vegas. “Fallout should be a post-post-apocalypse, Obsidian understood that. I know the famous line is that war never changes but Bethesda’s inability to change the wasteland and always having it in nuclear conflict shows they don’t get it.”

My smarter friends often have conversations about politics, and I was never able to join them because I’ve never been able to form an opinion in my life. Fortunately I was browsing Twitch — the intellectual center of the internet — and I stumbled upon a streamer named Felper who talked about farting and pissing while barely reacting to a video. Then something wonderful happened: This dipshit started sharing his political views. Finally, I had a take and it happened to be from some sweaty nerd who’s never worked a real job just like me.

It’s taken so long for me to develop a personality from all the media I consume, I was happy to get a shortcut in this other aspect of my being with Felper. Now when anyone mentions a movie with a POC or LGBT actor I can call it woke and consistently defend my intellectual thesis. That’s what Felper does when he debates other homunculi on stream. All I have to do is copy what he says verbatim.

Do I know who the vice president is? No and I don’t have to because Felper does sort of. He forgets it a lot, but he remembers she’s Puerto Rican or something. Owning cucks and betas is also very important.

I remember when the Amber Heard trial was happening, thank goodness Felper was there to guide me through the complex legal proceedings with tact and dignity. I’m fairly sure he didn’t attend any law school, but he spoke confidently and loudly so I knew I could trust him and take all of his opinions for my own.

I can’t wait for election season to get in full swing so Felper can pour his takes right into my ear and I can unload them onto my unsuspecting friends who wonder why they still hang out with me, over Discord of course.

I’m so glad to have found Felper. Now not only do I have opinions, but I also have an endless supply of pre-thought-out talking points to spout off in other people’s Twitter mentions. My lack of a life gives me so much time to regurgitate what Felper says I know it won’t be long before we cure the woke mind virus that’s ruining video games.

Mom Confirms Extramarital Affairs with Everyone on Xbox

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — The Call of Duty trolls were telling the truth. My mother has confirmed that she has slept with numerous individuals, across numerous games and matches throughout the years.

Mom revealed the shocking revelation this afternoon in an emergency family meeting.

“Kids, your father just isn’t the gamer I once married. I can’t limit myself to a man who struggles to keep his lifetime K/D up above 0.5,” Mom said, holding back tears. “I need gamers who can hold the lane in Nuketown single-handedly and finish a match with fifty-plus kills. The type of gamer who’s going to put in the work and pull all-nighters. One who values their position on the leaderboard more than in society. Those are the gamers that know how to satisfy a woman.”

Dad stomped out of the room, devastated. We could hear him slam the door from the game room.

“Your father hardly even looks at his Xbox anymore,” Mom said in an attempt to justify her actions. “And it hasn’t been touched in lord knows how long. I can’t stay with him. Real gamers game, they know how to handle a joystick and I’ve met some real gamers recently.”

My siblings and I inquired about our new living arrangements following the divorce.

“I’m taking the Xbox. You kids are more than welcome to stay with your noob father, if it’s what you want,” Mom confirmed. “I only hope that you kids don’t end up like him, not even able to get an even K/D. Whatever you do, please just promise me you’ll always try to play the objective no matter what. If you do then you’ll be just fine. Unlike your father.”

Man With Anime Girl Tattoo Preemptively Added to Federal Watchlist

NEW YORK — An anime fan has freshly inaugurated himself onto a federal watchlist upon completion of a new tattoo of fictional 14-year-old Rei Ayanami, of Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Tattoo shops have added a legal disclaimer to intake forms for clients receiving tattoos with similar subjects, sources have confirmed.

“Yeah I had some issues with this new system, but honestly once he started insisting on making her look really oily while fully clothed, I was pretty sold.” said tattoo artist Drew Johnson. “I’m asked to do a lot of anime tattoos, so I’m not a stranger to the art style. Most anime fans are normal people who ask for normal tattoos but now and then there’s always a weird one and it never gets easier looking up reference pictures and discovering that the character is prepubescent. I mean $600 is $600, so I’m gonna do it obviously, but I do feel just a little icky.”

The concerns didn’t stay at the shop, either. Family members of the client have expressed their frustrations to sources as well.

“I don’t even think it’s that bad. Fourteen-year-olds have boobs, right?” said David Harold. “I love this show, and there are multiple cute girls from it I could’ve gotten, but I really like the despondent look in this one’s eyes. I guess the bright side is that I don’t have to find a new job since I’m already unemployed.”

At press time, government officials confirmed that even if the tattoo were removed, David would remain on the watchlist, citing the desire to get the tattoo in the first place.
