Throughout Pokemon Scarlet & Violet‘s Paldea Region there are a plethora of places to explore, Pokemon to catch, and trainers to battle. Something new Pokemon trainers may not be thinking about, though are the items to collect. In Pokemon, items can serve a wide variety of purposes such as evolving your pocket monster or granting them small buffs to help in battle. One of the most useful items in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is the Destiny Knot, which is not only useful in battle but is also a very important tool for trainers looking to breed their Pokémon.
You can use the Destiny Knot to pass on 5 IVs from a parent Pokemon to its offspring. This means you can breed your Pokemon until it has perfect stats with much less hassle and effort than you would without a Destiny Knot. This guide will show you how and where to obtain the Destiny Knot.
Where to Get the Destiny Knot in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
There is only one way to get the Destiny Knot and it is fairly simple. You must go and buy one at the Delibird Present Shop. Specifically, you need to go to the one in southern Mesagoza. This is one of the first towns you will go to on your adventure and is also where the Academy is located. Once you have found the right store, you can buy the Destiny Knot for 20,000 Poke Dollars.
However, the downside to this method is that the Destiny Knot will not become available to you until you have collected at least 4 gym badges, meaning you will not get it until mid-game. So make sure you played through the Victory Road storyline a bit before attempting to buy this item. It’s best to get it as soon as possible so you can start breeding Pokémon with preferable IVs.
How to Use The Destiny Knot
Once you have the Destiny Knot, you can give it to a Pokémon of your choice and breed it. However, the breeding process is a little different in Scarlet and Violet than it has been in previous generations. There is no longer a daycare to drop them off at. Instead breeding will occur during Picnics, which you can set up at any time. Just set up a picnic with two Pokémon of the same egg group, or any Pokemon along with a Ditto, and wait for a little while. When you’re done with the picnic, be sure to check the basket to see if an egg has appeared.
