A WWE Commentator has revealed that the recent “run-in” they claimed to have had with CM Punk was just them “playing around.”
NXT commentator Booker T stated on a recent episode of his Hall of Fame podcast that he and CM Punk “almost got into it” backstage recently.
This seemed like a nod to Punk’s past in All Elite Wrestling, where he had altercations backstage with The Elite, Tony Khan and Jack Perry, and it turns out it was just a joke from the 5-time WCW Champion Booker.
Booker T reveals the truth about CM Punk “run-in”
Speaking on the latest episode of his podcast, Booker revealed that he was just playing with his fans: “I’m trying to entertain my fans… Because that story, that 40-second story that people wrote, it was clickbait, guys” he noted (via SEScoops).”
“Did I put it out there? Did I say it? As far as I had a beef, I was gonna run up? Yeah, I said [it] But I’m entertaining you guys. Entertaining. Just playing around” he concluded.
CM Punk is currently out of action after sustaining an injury at the Royal Rumble event in January 2024, although there have been rumors that he could be making an appearance at WrestleMania XL in some capacity, potentially as the Special Guest Referee for the Seth Rollins vs Drew McIntyre match.
