SEATTLE — Reggie Fils-Aimé, President and COO of Nintendo America, welcomed his fourth child into the world over the weekend, a young boy named SW-3042-2266-6049.
“We wanted to spend some time with our child before giving him a name, but as soon as I laid eyes on him, I knew he was a SW-3042-2266-6049,” the proud father said. “You can really see it in the way he looks at you. No other name would do.”
Sources close to the Fils-Aimés indicate that the unconventional name caused significant turmoil amongst family members. Many reportedly questioned why a more conventional name wouldn’t have suited the child just fine.
“At first I wanted a conventional name for my son — something recognizable, but memorable,” said the child’s mother, Stacey Sanner. “But Reggie was sold on SW-3042-2266-6049 and you know what, I think it’s growing on me.”
The head of Nintendo America is glad that his wife came around, and isn’t worried about concerns that other friends and family have fielded, including his ability to make friends once he’s old enough to play with others.
“I don’t think he’ll have trouble making friends because his name is SW-3042-2266-6049,” he said. “Sure, his siblings are having some difficulty getting it exactly right, but I don’t think that they’ll forget it once they get to know each other and are playing together. They’ll probably call him ‘Thirty Forty-Two’ for short or something.”
“Judging by how easy it is to remember all of your friend’s Nintendo friend codes, I think SW-3042-2266-6049 is gonna have a swell time growing up.”
