HELSINKI — The upcoming psychological horror game Unending Agony, the debut title of Finnish developer Olemassaolo Software, has promised to frighten gamers in completely unprecedented ways, the developers announced in an image available exclusively as a WEBP file.
“We are familiar with the cliches people associate with horror games, the things we have become bored with,” stated Olemassaolo founder Arnold Frank in a press WEBP. “The jumpscares, the zombies, the scary cartoon characters. Trivial. Our game will have none of those. We will show you true terror.”
Currently, no information is known about Unending Agony’s gameplay, setting, or plot. A teaser trailer has been released on YouTube, which consists solely of the sentence “YOUR SUFFERING HAS ONLY BEGUN” appearing on-screen one word at a time, with an unskippable eight-minute ad break between each word.
“We know that for the players, this early anticipation must be unbearable,” explained Frank. “But we’ll have plenty of ways to stay up to date with information on our game. Simply go to our website, accept all cookies and notifications and turn off your adblocker, and you can subscribe to our newsletter. We’ll be sure to email you the hottest Unending Agony updates every hour.”
Since this morning, the updates from Olemassaolo’s newsletter have revealed that Unending Agony will have some level of connectivity with mobile devices, due to the constant stream of notifications and phone calls that can occur at any given moment.
The game will also access the player’s webcam and microphone to record the player’s reaction during the game’s most shocking moments, then post the footage on its social media channels, tagging every single user the player has ever blocked or been blocked by.
“Future generations will remember Arnold Frank as a genius,” declared an anonymous Reddit user in the game’s already growing subreddit. “Anybody can throw a screaming face at you for a quick jolt. True horror lingers in your memory. It stays in your gut and causes you discomfort long after the heat of the moment has disappeared. Olemassaolo did that without telling us even a little about the gameplay. God only knows what’s in store for us once it comes out.”
Unending Agony will release as a timed exclusive for the Epic Games Store on March 31 for one year, before being pulled from the storefront.
