WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes went a little non-PG on this week’s episode of WWE RAW, but don’t expect other stars to go the same way.
Speaking on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer claimed that WWE wanted to allow Cody Rhodes to react to The Rock’s recent non-PG jabs on television on social media, otherwise, he would just look weak in comparison.
“I don’t think you’re a heel, I think you’re an a**h*le,” was the first line Cody dropped during his promo that had to get bleeped on the live feed, and he went on to say “b*tch” a few times as well.
Cody Rhodes WWE RAW Promo was non-PG
Stars backstage have reportedly been unhappy recently with The Rock and his use of vulgar language on social media and television to promote his upcoming WrestleMania match…especially as no one else in the company is seemingly allowed to do so.
According to a recent report from Aaron Varble of SEScoops: “I can exclusively report that a recent memo emphasized the need for talent to follow PG guidelines on TV and social media. Despite this, The Rock’s use of profanity, like in a recent promo, has raised questions among talent about double standards. They wonder why he’s allowed to curse while others aren’t.”
With that, Cody’s promo on this week’s episode of RAW is expected to be the exception, not the norm going forward.
However, we might get more of this back-and-forth between The Rock and Cody ahead of WrestleMania 40 in early April.
