OSAKA, Japan — Capcom has announced the upcoming release of Mega Man Legacy Collection Collection, a collection that collects all previous Mega Man collections into a single package, coming this Fall to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
This new collection will include classic video game collections Mega Man Legacy Collection and Mega Man Legacy Collection 2, along with more recent collections Mega Man X Legacy Collection and Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2, all brought together for the very first time.
“We’re incredibly excited to share these classic collections of even more classic Mega Man games with fans everywhere,” said Capcom in a press release. “We truly feel that this collection will capture that classic Mega Man collection experience that seasoned Mega Man players love: buying the same game over and over again on different platforms, then buying them again. And now, again.”
Capcom added that this new collection of collections includes every released Mega Man game ever, except of course 2018’s Mega Man 11, which isn’t quite old enough to be resold to obsessive collectors and will likely appear in a future collection.
The Mega Man Legacy Collection Collection will also reportedly include new trophy and achievement lists on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One respectively. Capcom has expressed hope that this will help make some players’ 200th playthroughs of the first Mega Man feel a bit more meaningful, rather than exposing the activity for the desperate attempt to recapture a sense of childhood innocence that it is.
“Maybe this time clearing Ice Man’s stage will truly transport me back to when I was a kid sitting two feet in front of our CRT,” said Mega Man super-fan Adam Jenkins, who just placed his pre-order. “The time before my parents got divorced, and before the crippling weight of adult life made me so sad … so horribly, miserably sad.”
As of press time, the Capcom office was reportedly in crisis mode after an intern pointed out you can download every single Mega Man game for free onto a flash drive in roughly 30 seconds.
